With Katrina edging ever closer to New Orleans I have really become nervous about things. I have a few friends that live there and I am positive they have all been smart enough to leave, but I worry about the beautiful French Quarter. New Orleans is probably one of the most unique cities in the country the thought of it being destroyed really makes me sad. I wonder why they are loading people into the Super Dome? Couldn't they have used all available city buses and whatever else was available to get them out of town? I just don't see that if this hurricane really hits hard that the Super Dome is going to be all that safe. I have already heard stories that many high rise building are expected to collapse and other horrible things. I don't know how exaggerated these scenarios are or are not, but it just seems that maybe they could have got more people out of harms way. Anyhow the city and the people are in my prayers and I hope in yours too.

I don't like being surrounded by a bunch of strangers at any time. I guess some people find it comforting to be with a lot of people though.

I've always found friends everywhere I go. If I don't know anyone, I look for someone who seems somewhat "together" and strike up a conversation.
I can only imagine that a disaster like this would make it easier rather than more difficult. We tend to be more social when a threat looms.
But many will go through this event alone and frightened...even in a huge crowd. That is a shame.

I just get claustrophobic in big indoor crowds. I am normally OK if it is outside. You should see me on a packed plane because I am afraid of heights too.:)
Katrina is supposed to be like a once in a lifetime event.
