Graham Phillips was Whitley’s guest for Dreamland last week. He had quite a story to tell, but not much proof. The basic concept of it was that he believes the Holy Grail to be the Virgin Mary. He believes that she and Jesus were really Greek and descended from Alexander the Great and that she is buried somewhere in Wales. He thinks digging up this body that he believes to be the Virgin Mary and doing DNA tests will confirm his theory. At least he has come up with his own unique version of the Holy Grail tale without following in the footsteps of “Holy Blood, Holy Grail” or “The Da Vinci Code.” After that was the wonderful Linda Moulton Howe who spoke about global warming, stars that move in patterns (really UFOs), Bush and bird flu. If you are so inclined then pop over to Unknown Country and listen for yourself, it is free.
Now onto the subscribers interview, also with Graham Phillips. Basically Graham told us how Jesus as a young man and his family belonged to what we would now call a Hippie Commune. It was very Buddhist and women had equal rights in this community which they didn‘t in Hebrew or Roman society. I don’t know if this is true, but I have often said that Jesus was the first Hippie, so I suppose that is possible. Graham also mentioned something that I absolutely believe to be true and that is that real genius’ are always outsiders and very often drunks and the only way to be a true innovator is to be “outside of it all.” Another thing he said that I believe to often be true is that Religions get so caught up in ritual that they forget about the individual.
Whitley said that the Catholic Church was set up by Constantine to make people believe that they needed a emissary between themselves and God. I believe that most churches try to make people think this way. If you read the bible however it is always the priests and rabbis that Jesus has the most problem with. They are always the ones who just don’t get it because they are so caught up in their “rituals.” Not that I want people to think that I am totally against rituals, they can often be lovely and meaningful. OK, that is about all the religion talk I can handle right now and here is my Whitley quote of the week - “It has been found that there is literally a worship gene in human beings and we need to learn how to use the worship gene.”
