My neighbor died yesterday evening. I knew when I saw the flashing lights next door what had probably happened. He had been sick with emphysema, or something very similar for a long while now. Hopefully his wife will do all right without him, they had been married a very long time. Our dog, Pooka has been pretty sad since it happened. She is very good friends with him and his wife, she goes over to visit at least once a day and they keep a box of treats for her. She seemed to know what had happened, even though she was in the house with me the whole time. He was a very nice man and I am sad to see him go, but believe that he will go to a better place where he is no longer suffering. In the past several months he had lost the will to live and I think was probably ready and happy to go.
Strangely enough my grumpiness seems to have disappeared. I don't know if that is because death so close just makes us happy to be alive, or if my grumpy mood was some sort of premonition that something bad was going to happen.
I know that is probably a depressing story, but it is all I have for today.

Our relationship with the physical universe all around us has been described as our body being like a fish net and the environment including the people, the street light, the TV , are all pulsing em and no doubt your dog and you yourself were more than just a bit sensitive to your neighbour. My condolences to you and your dog. Let him know that he got a sympathy card.

You mean humans don't have those? I had never noticed. Luckily the humans don't seem to notice mine, only you and I can see them so it will be our secret.
