This weeks Grey Matters is all about Dan Aykroyd and the new DVD Dan Aykroyd Unplugged on UFOs. Grey Matters will magically appear at Binnall of America today. While at BOA check out all the great stuff!
Lesley you beat me to it!!! I got the DVD several days ago; thoroughly enjoyed it; and had intended on writing a review of it for the board. (You know what they say about "the early bird" and all that!)
So, let me simply add a few comments to your excellent review.
Positive things about the DVD: 1. Excellent footage, especially the NASA stuff which too me almost seems definitive. 2. Dan Aykroyd. Like Lesley said, he is the show. His personality and insight is what makes this DVD unique and great. 3. Gordon Cooper. Unless someone has debunked him and knows something this DVD isn't telling, this man seems as legit as they come. To me, much more convincing than Paul Hellyer (sp?) who also got a lot of air time.
Negative things about the DVD: 1. The production values were only okay. Some of the titles were pixelated and Mr. Serada's choice of graphics and titles seem somewhat unsophisticated. (I could honestly do better with my home computer and Apple's iMovie.) 2. Lesley nailed it: The overuse of the Billy Mier's photos. 3. Dan Aykroyd's clothes... Where and the heck does this man shop? It looked like a clown suit!
Overall, the DVD really is very good though and well worth the $12.00 at Amazon. Buy it together with the new CD by The Bravery and you'll get free shipping and have some great tunes!
postscript: I'm worried about the title of the DVD... You just know the skeptics will call it Dan Aykroyd: Unhinged on UFOs...
You should still write your review if you want. There is nothing wrong with more than two people talking about it. I kind of liked Dan's outfit because it was something that most people wouldn't be caught dead in. That and the glitter made me laugh and I don't mean that in a bad way. The thing is that Aykroyd is pretty much universally loved and I don't think the skeptics would make any new friends by making fun of him.
I'm trying toget my significant other involved with this DVD, but she only made it halfway through so far. Her perspective is kind of cool though... Right away when she saw the Billy Miers photos she screamed "FAKE!"
As for writing a review, I think yours nailed it, and mine would be a rehash. I just added those few points above. It's interesting how you noticed some production problems with the audio and I with the video.

Was that glitter? I thought he was sweating.
