The woods in the area mentioned cover an enormous territory. A mistake of a few km in triangulation will make the search mission fruitless - which usually happens quite frequently, esp. in winter conditions. If anything really fell down in that area, the chance of finding it is low to nil. Sorry to be a spoilsport.
When whatever it was crashed it caused a huge fire, according the first report. I would think that would give them some clue of where it is, but who knows?
