For years I heard sooooooooo much about The Celestine Prophecy. Tons of people told me that I should read it. Sometimes I listen when bunches of people tell me to read something, but in that case I didn't because nothing they ever told me about the book truly interested me. However, when I saw the DVD of the movie for rent this week I rented it. I had hoped it would give me some clue as to what the big fuss was about since the screenplay was written by James Redfield and he seemed to fully endorse the movie version. Apparently I was right and that story is just not for me. If the book is anything like the movie it is totally boring (to me) and full of "wisdom" that is not new wisdom, but rather ancient wisdom that is kind of recycled into a modern tale. In other words, I found nothing new or particularly interesting in the tale. I suppose someone who had never known anything about ancient wisdom, religions and beliefs could find the story profound and perhaps that is it's purpose, to educate the masses. There is certainly nothing wrong with the tale and if it "enlightens" some that may not have been otherwise, it is a good thing.
It is suppose to snow again tomorrow, eek! Luckily, it is also suppose to warm back up into the 50's next week so hopefully things will soon be back to normal. It has always been pretty obvious to me that I wouldn't like to live somewhere that got a lot of snow and I am totally sure of that now. I do still really love Austria (most especially Innsbruck), but I would probably grow tired of the snow if I actually lived there so I am content to just visit occasionally.

I remember when the book first came out; someone insisted that I read it, they felt sure I would, given my UFO and paranormal/mystical self, I'd love the book.
I hated it. I couldn't even finish it. It was so badly written! What a stinker.
