When I saw this story what stood out was how they leaped to conclusions about her life. I think it's a small instance of the larger problem where we misinterpret what we find dating back to ancient civilizations. Not all figurines had religious intent; they could have been toys for kids on a shelf. Maybe a fake eye like that was common.
