We saw 300 last night. I know Khyron really liked it, so I am going to guess it is more of a movie for his age group than mine. The actual look of the movie was pretty cool, but I can only watch a dozen or so limbs being chopped off before I am bored.
Another thing that bothered me about the movie was with all the talk of the evil Persians and how they had to be fought to preserve freedom, I felt like I was watching a recruitment film for the US military. Looking around the theater at the age group and sex of most of the attendees I could well be right.
That being said it wasn't a total waste, as I mentioned the look of the film was great and they didn't over use the matrix style fighting as I was afraid they might. When some trucker driver called c2c the other night and said it was like a mixture of Troy and the Matrix, I was afraid it would be much worse than it actually was. Not as bad as Troy, not as good as The Matrix. So I give it 3 stars.

I saw 300 last night too. I loved the film, but I had also read the book first. I don't think Frank Miller or Zach Whatshisface (the director) intended it to come across as a pro terra war film or anything, though there's been a lot of talk about it, because people will see the metaphors they want.
But I still thought the adaptation of Sin City was better.
I had also read the graphic novel and for some reason I liked it much better than the film, although it still isn't one of my favorite graphic novels.
It is doubtful the pro war sentiment was intended, so far as Iraq, but I still think anytime you glorify war you will have that effect on some people.
Jane - Sin City was remarkable.
Lesley - Greek Chippendales?
