Crypto Crazy!

After reading Nick Redfern's review of Further Cryptozoology, I decided I must have it and ordered it from Amazon. It arrived yesterday and I love it! It is pretty much an encyclopedia of crypto creatures. I consider myself pretty well versed in cryptozoology, but there are bunches of beasties in this book that I was not familiar with. Although, I haven't read the entire thing cover to cover yet, I would say that it is probably an essential reference book for anyone who truly loves cryptozoology.

I also had ordered Nick's Celebrity Secrets which arrived yesterday too and also looks to be really cool, even if it isn't very esoteric.

For those who haven't noticed, I have been on a total crypto kick lately. Besides the above mentioned books I also order about 3 of Jonathan Downes' books, but they haven't arrived yet. I just enjoyed him so much on c2c a month or so ago that I figured his books must also be fun.

Who knows when I will actually get time to read all those books? Yet, I couldn't resist buying them and stacking them up with all the other books that I haven't had time to read yet.

I really must stop reading book reviews and visiting Amazon before I go broke.

Hi Lesley. I guess I'll have to check out that book as well, it sounds really fun. I just finished Loren Coleman's updated Mysterious America, which I had read like ten times before, but the updates were cool. The Jonathan Downes show was great. Did you see his picture online? I'll be darned if doesn't just look like a cryptozoologist! By the way, your bookshelf sounds like mine; I have literally hundreds of books that I haven't read or have just read parts. You have probably heard of this book before, but you would also enjoy John A. Keel's The Complete Guide to Mysterious Beings. Another classic that I have been reading is W. Y. Evans-Wentz's The Fairy Faith in Celtic Countries, an early twentieth century attempt at scientifically studying the fairy phenomenon.

I don't have the updated version of mysterious america, but I have a signed HB from the previous edition.

I actually already liked Jonathan a bunch from reading Nick Redfern's book, three men seeking monsters, but I liked him even more after hearing him on c2c.

I don't have that Keel book, but I have his Mothman one. I am sure I will eventually get it.

I love fairy books and have an entire collection, but not that one, so I will probably eventually get that too.

Oh no! Even more books that I want!

Hey Lesley, did you hear Coast to Coast Wednesday night with Jay Weidner? That was a great show. I had never heard about the Denver Airport and all of its weird secrets. I'm not inclined to be a conspiracy theorist, but hearing things like that it makes me wonder. Also, do you have the Janet Board fairie book? That one is great.

I feel your pain - Barnes & Noble owns a piece of my immortal soul. I spend way too much time there drinking Starbucks and buying books and mags on weird stuff.
