I thought I had a doctor's appointment yesterday for an urinary tract infection. When I got there I found out that although I had been told no date and just next Tuesday when I made the appointment last Friday, it actually was for the following week. They asked if I would be willing to see a different doctor and I figured since I was already there I might as well. The new doctor turned out to be really cool, he did give me some antibiotics to finish clearing up the infection, but he also told me that I had almost completely healed myself with all the water I drink and that I probably didn't need the med. That was really cool to hear because I am a big believer that of all the healthful foods people might eat or juices they might drink, nothing is better for your body than water and I always drink lots of it.
The next cool thing he did was somehow notice that I was having back and neck problems. I have no clue how he figured that out, because I didn't mention it. He had me lay down, not telling me what he was going to do and he popped my back, then he did my neck and when he did that it was like popcorn popping. I still can't believe how much my neck popped, even though I know it has been screwed up for 3 years, since that lady ran a red light and hit me really hard, spinning my entire blazer around with her little Subaru.
I can't even begin to tell you how much better my back and especially neck feel. I have always stayed away from chiropractics, preferring acupuncture, but I think this doctor may have changed my mind. Acupuncture always takes the pain away for a while, but it probably does not fix the underlying problem of my misaligned bones. I think acupuncture is probably great for many things and I will continue doing it, but I may start seeing a chiropractor too.
Also, it was really cool to have a positive experience with medical treatment for a change.

I hear that! After having a baby by c-section, I suffered with a UTI for 6 months! The doctor kept prescribing me everything under the sun and nothing was working. I took a look at alternative medicine and by drinking bear berry tea along with taking cranberry pills I was able to rid my body of the infection. Drinking hot water with fresh parsley is also good for the urinary tract system.
Glad you are feeling better!
Glad you feel better. I'm trying to get my fiance to try acupuncture for her back pain, although I think chiropractics will always be best simply because they treat the bones and muscles directly.

Aura - I read on the internet that cranberry juice or pills would help with the symptoms. I drank 2 cups of cranberry juice a day and it really did help. Pain medication seemed to only cause more pain in the form of stomach cramps so I quit taking that after the first day.
Jarret - I think it would depend what the pain is from. Some people get back pain due to stress, or just soreness due to certain activities, like having to stand all day, in which case I think acupunture would work better. For people with screwed up bones like I have, I think chiropratic would be better.
Lesley, I'm glad you found such a good doctor; that's very lucky! Good for you.
I use both acupuncture and a chiropractor; just for different things. Depends.
Sadly, my insurance -- and I have really good insurance -- doesn't pay for all of it. But, it does cover some.
I'm a big believer in water as well;
