This is what the 1984 (quite an appropriate year) Data Protection Act was designed to guard against. I never register my mobile phones and they are certainly never left on or used at home. Worryingly when I did need to phone the police from my mobile, as I explained to them where the incident was, they replied "Oh yes, we have your location already"!
