I certainly hope you intend on listening to the interview because the title is very deceiving based on the results. If people do not listen to it, they'll go away thinking that Carter did not claim to see a UFO. It sounds more like The New England Skeptical Society has joined the ranks of the Shermers of the world. Take something from the horses mouth and then twist it. The whole podcast was nauseating, not just the Carter interview. Ex-President Carter was certainly with it and I could tell that he knew where they were coming from as was shown in his frustration. After Carter's interview there is a bit they threw in about Carter's son and an email they had received from him and consequent conversation. It is this that they're basing their title off of and not the interview with Ex-President Carter himself. Now that to me was very bad judgment on their part because they said that they had asked 'the supposed son' to identify himself, however the interviewer really didn't know whether that was Carter's son or not. It really doesn't matter though because Carter said nothing of the sort in the interview and was very specific about it NOT being the planet Venus or any other planet for that matter. He also said that the UFO went back in the direction that it came and that there were many lights, not just one light. Carter was adamant and definitely believed it to be a UFO. It appeared as if the interviewers were trying too hard to get him to say something they could use in a negative way. They couldn't though so instead they used this fictitious son.

I do know all of that. However, now Carter is apparently trying to say that although he saw a ufo, he doesn't believe it was alien or from elsewhere. Basically he is saying that he doesn't believe in aliens.

I had put together for you the misconstrued comments made by the Skeptics Guide regarding Carter's actual comments and was ready to post it but instead I see Frank Warren had about the same thing to say so check out his blog instead. Don't take offense by it but it's not the first time ufology has become their own disinformation officer since many sights are running that title such as yourself. And, I hope your fixed the Larry King live date since it's Friday and not Thursday as originally reported by Wired.

If you had heard it, you would have heard him talk in past tense. I just listened to the interview again in order to give it to you verbatim and he stated, "back then I didn't believe in alien spacecraft". He says nothing at all about what he believes today and instead stated, "back then". He also stated, "we didn't know what it was" simply because they didn't.

I take no offense at all. Many articles I post links to are likely just plain wrong about things.

Although, I will say that to me the importance of Carter's ufo sighting gets less and less as time goes on. Since he is no longer President anything of value he could have done is no longer possible. Right now his sighting is just one of millions, but shouldn't be given anymore weight that others just because he was President. There is plenty of proof in the form of photos and videos without Carter ever having seen a ufo. Mind you, I do respect the fact that he would admit to having seen one, given the giggle factor.
