No relation to Phil Klass!

As most know, I am kind of a stats junkie when it comes to this blog. So there I was looking through the stats and I see a click that came from a message board and I click the link to see what was being said. It started out well enough, it seemed that someone read last week's Grey Matters and enjoyed it, but then I come to a comment that says - she sounds like a true sceptic. Huh? However, nothing could prepare me for a comment after that. I am used to maybe being called a woo-woo and such things as that and at this point such comments don't really bother me. If it had been something like that it would have been OK, but it wasn't. IMO, it is the worse insult I have ever read about myself. This is what is said:

"Maybe it's a daughter of Philip Klass?"

WTF ? ! ? !

I have no earthly clue how someone could read that Grey Matters and think that I am a skeptic, never mind a slimy hateful debunker like Phil Klass.

One of two things happened --

1) I did not make my point at all and was totally misunderstood, or
2) People did not actually read the column and commented on it anyway

This is the part that was quoted at the site -

Lastly, just like the Dulce base, it doesn't matter if your theories are real or not. Strange shit happens. Strange shit that doesn't fit into your box. It will happen that way no matter what theory you believe in or how strongly you defend it.

I certainly don't see anything skeptical in that, but maybe that is because I wrote it and knew what I meant.

Am I a skeptic and what is a skeptic? I know UFOs exist because I have seen them. I also am sure that not all of them are secret military craft or of this planet, dimension - whatever. I am skeptical when people are so sure they are one thing or another - aliens, demons, time travelers and so on, none of those theories are totally proven to my satisfaction and I believe there could be one than one answer. I have an open mind that they could be aliens (or whatever else), but I would never argue that point with someone. So I guess if that is skeptical, maybe I am skeptical, but I am not a debunker like Phil Klass.

Update: Read the comment section. My sense of humor failed on that one, it is hard to know if people you don't know are joking, but apparently they were.

Whew! Thank Goodness that is cleared up! I couldn't stand thinking that anyone would think I am in any way like Phil Klass.

And me too!

i read the article with interest and quoted the end of the article thinking this is really pertinent to the way the general discussion on the board was going all the arguments and theories. You are correct we write things and assume people know what we mean......... I plead guilty m'lud

I promise to try and make things clearer in the future.

And on a positive note i really like your blog and it's now bookmarked under NON Sceptical LOL
