Let me rant for a moment...

OK, so I can't stand it any longer and have to say something. Who are these friggin' mobs that are so terrified of the socialism boogie man and don't see the boogie man that is right in bed with them? No, not Glenn Beck -- big, for profit insurance companies. I understand that it is likely that many of them are paid to show up, but how do they manage to find the stupidest people on earth in every single state? I am not saying the Obama administration's health care plan is perfect, but at least attack it for REAL things and not fantasy death panels. Swear to God, the more they let these people talk the more I like the Obama plan. I find it hard to take seriously anything that people who are that stupid have to say. Just the other night one of the women that had been protesting was on one of the news shows. After spending several minutes explaining how she was so worried about socialism the host asked her what she would do about health care, her answer was that she realized there were people without it and that those who have should help those that don't have. Who is the Socialist, Comrade?

I won't even mention the guy that wanted the government to keep it's hands off his medicare. Ok, I just did, but if Medicare is not the slippery slope of the socialism that these idiots are so worried about -- I don't know what is.

If just one or two of those people (or even a dozen) were that stupid, I could overlook it and try to see the larger point, but every single one of them that opens their mouth to actually try to say something (as opposed to shouting people down) is just as stupid as the ones I mentioned.

So there, I said it and I feel better.

Back to your regular esoteric programming...

I believe that shows like Glenn Beck's are too influential. If an individual likes Glenn Beck's show on one note, they'll start to believe that everything he has to say is the way it should be. Yes, people are dummies but they don't recognize it.

Too many are influenced by personalities, appearances, tone of voice, etc., which will many time dictate their beliefs. It's a dictatorship of sorts and the networks are notorious for it.

The only controversial personality that I would and could ever believe would be Walter Cronkite and there hasn't been very many of those since. He had his opinions but never shared them at face value and instead let the viewer decide.

These are the same right-wing nut-jobs who claim they don't want government controls - then point out society's ills and exclaim; Why doesn't the government do something about this?

As an American currently enjoying Canada's evil communist health system, I must say that if "socialism" means not going broke after going to the doctor, sign me up comrade!! Oh, and we havn't waited any longer here than we did in Ohio.

Also, Leslie, this can be considered esoteric programming: file under "conspiracy theories."

Yes, I see this as a conspiracy because these people are being frightened into sticking up for the big corporations. They aren't smart enough to realize that not all conspiracies are from the government. They fear fantasy death panels when insurance companies refuse people life saving treatments every single day.

The last gast of the right-wing social and economic policies that have gripped America for the thirty years since Reagan's election . . .

One thing the past year should have taught us is how empty those policies were and what an ultimately disastrous effect they had on even the people who passionately supported them.

It didn't work. It's over, you knuckleheads. Better find something else to get behind because your house of cards is falling down around your ears.

It's time for those of us in the silent majority who want a break with the policies of the past thirty years to speak up and be heard.

In the past when I was younger I would have totally agreed with all the anti-socialism people. Now though, after having a family of my own to support, and not having the greatest job in the world, my views have changed on it. It's funny how having a job that gives you insurance, but still doesn't pay you enough to go to the doctors even with insurance does that to you.

Worse yet is when you try to use the government health programs to assist you with that so you can go, yet they won't because they say your insurance is to good, despite doing it in the past for you with the same insurance.

The thing that sucks the most is that this is avoidable. If companies would realize that every job is important(not just the corporate level ones)and pay the "low end" workers a bit more, perhaps we never would have had a recession to begin with. It all comes down to companies mismanaging money and filtering it up to the corporate goons.
