I was sort of skeptical about this phenomena until I heard it, not clunking like this video, but a sustained mechanical noise in the distance that must have been extremely loud. I called my wife out to listen and then played a few youtubes with the exact same noise. I must say I have very acute hearing and have been around all types of machinery and have been outside all my life. If it only lasted a minute or so one might dismiss it as distant traffic or a machine. What we experienced lasted quite a long time, but the amazing thing was it seemed to emanate from the sky above totally barren desert that stretches for 50 miles south of I40. No roads, no towns, no people, but here was this sustained roar from the sky.
The first time this happened to me, it went on for a good two hours, maybe 3. Both myself and Brit heard it. Although, we were probably the only ones since it was like 2 in the morning. I have had it happen several times since then, sometimes in daylight, but it has never been that loud or lasted as long again. I wish I would have thought to tape it.
