Ancient Aliens proves good TV is ancient history

But all those shows are peanuts in my eyes, and even get a pass next to the intellectual abomination that is Ancient Aliens. It's not only because frequent guest Giorgio A. Tsoukalos has hair like a Treasure Troll and dubious credentials, either. From episode one, it has been an orgy of pseudoscience, logical fallacies, stupidity and ol' timey racism (you know, the kind that uses the "science.")
At every turn, the "experts" use the old "I don't know how they did it, must be aliens" logic, to explain accomplishments of ancient — meaning "non-white"— people. Pyramids? Aliens did it. Nazca Lines? Aliens did it. Machu Picchu? Aliens again. Crop Circles? OK, I can't let that one slide even a little.
Nothing like someone that has probably only ever watched one episode of Ancient Aliens calling people he doesn't know "racist."  As far as I am aware the ancient people of the UK, France, Germany and Scandinavia are thought to have been white.  So obviously if AA is racist, it's racism extends to every race on earth.  Need I mention that Giorgio Tsoukalos is Greek and that people of a variety of ethnic origins (the so-called "non-whites") are interviewed on the show and share similar theories?

Yes, I have seen a lot of low crap from skeptibunks over the years so probably I should have just expected that they would somehow work in a way to call people racists.  All the name calling they have done over the years is getting old, everyone has heard nutty, woo-woo, crazy and so on.  Who knows what is next - maybe they can find someway to accuse people of cannibalism or the dreaded socialism?

It's funny how you only focus on the claim of racism and not on any of the actual important things. For example, why is it that your boy Giorgio is incapable of providing evidence for the vast majority of his claims? And that on the rare occasion that he actually does provide what he considers evidence, it takes a severe suspension of disbelief to even consider it?

Yikes! I would just steer around that guy. Too far gone. No hoper...

There! Having provided fervid testimony for a world view entirely Cartesian if wholly reductionist and crumbling into irrelevance faster than you care to admit, I'm sure you and your rather anxious author must feel a _lot_ better.

See, Ano., Aristotle, it's argued—eminently self-limiting—fails to deliver on issues beyond the purely mechanical. We appeal to a marginalized Plato, of needs, regarding a void of information from "Science" on matters science won't begin to investigate at the start. Moreover, one man's "severe suspension of disbelief," is another's "brave leap out of a cloistered box."

It's the "hair," isn't it...

@ Anon - Even though it is an entertainment show I don't mind someone voicing an opinion that there isn't enough proof provided - that is fine. I would have not been the least irritated if he hadn't decided to go further than that and make up allegations of racism. That is why I commented on that part, it was the over the top accusation that should not be there.

BTW, has he ever seen a real Treasure Troll? Is there proof that Giorgio's hair is like a Treasure Troll? Certainly there is no proof for his racism comments.

Skeptoids insist AA isn't history and doesn't belong on the History channel, yet we don't hear the same amount of complaints about other shows on that station, like, say, Ice Road Truckers, etc.

AA is history -- looked at from a different perspective It's speculation, it's theory, and it's a take on the evidence. Evidence does not equal proof. Nothing at all wrong with speculating and theorizing. Yet the skeptoids would like us to believe that AA has no business at all doing what it does.

History, except for the literal (names, dates, location) is interpretation, theory, speculation, and skewed perspectives, depending on the "reporter." As the saying goes "history is written by the winners."

So AA takes a look from an unashamed viewpoint: Aliens exist. Opinion, sure, but they're entitled. It's one many share, including myself. No one's saying it's proof -- but it looks pretty damn good. Mostly -- someitimes I think it's a stretch but so what? I agree to disagree. It's a fun show, interesting show, and hell yes it has to do with history, and myth, (not to be confused with "fake" or "not true" but meant in the truest sense), religion, etc.

You don't like AA? Don't watch it. And knock it off with the demands, as some in the debunker culture are working hard at doing, to get AA off the air. Please.

At least those that appear on AA have done the work: they've studied UFOs for a long time from various perspectives, which is a hell of a lot more than the pathological skeptics can say.

To the skepotids: it's history. Don't make it out like it's a huge travesty against truth that AA is on the history channel. Don't believe in ET, fine. But UFO historians, as it were, come from the perspective they do exist and much of history is tied in with that. It's an opinion. Get over it.
