Charles Fort (1874 - 1932) researched and wrote about anomalous phenomena or what we now might call Fortean Phenomena. He wrote 4 grand books - The book of the Damned, New Lands, Lo! and Wild Talents. All of them are worth reading!
Probably needless to say, but Fort continues to inspire researchers of Fortean Phenomena and most likely always will.
