In many ways this post is a perfect illustration of my problem with debunkers.
First off, there is no proof (at least not that would be accepted by the majority) that aliens even exist. So to spend time debunking something that there is no proof for to begin with, it seems ridiculous! I am not a believer in any God believed in by religious people and the thought of me spending time debunking something that has no evidence anyhow - ridiculous! I would never waste the time!
Well, and once again - the profits of Ancient Aliens (which I happen to know are not anywhere near what Colavito would want you to believe, at least for anyone other than the network) are mentioned. Yes, those profits are mentioned as though they are bad, but Colavito has a site with links to his books that you can buy at Amazon. Those are apparently are not bad because they make him a profit. Why do debunkers always feel the need to mention everyone that might be making profits, other than themselves?
Oh, and there we find what is probably the real reason Colavito spends his time debunking something that there is no proof for to begin with - profits!!! AA is popular so by "debunking" them he is hopeful to get in the search results for anyone that googles about the show, giving more people exposure to his books which he wants you to buy!
Really, if Colavito's only concern is that you are enlightened and don't fall for those woo-woos, wouldn't he be giving all his books away for free? Oh, and we can add Michael Shermer and many others to that list. They are always so concerned that others might be making a profit, but never truly disclose that their living is made (at least partly) off the the people they are debunking.
Let's remember that we who don't judge it, but also don't fully believe it - we don't spend our time writing about it. It is one thing to "waste" time watching, but another thing entirely to waste time thinking and writing about a TV SHOW!
Although, I suppose I can understand the compulsion since I just spent a couple minutes writing about a debunker, which is really something that doesn't matter at all.

well said, Lesley. Debunkers and skeptics and atheists for that matter mystify me. if you don't believe it, why not just move on? The very fact that you have to sit there and try to get the rest of us to not believe in things makes no sense. I can't even watch shows like Fact or Faked which seem to think that if they can duplicate part of all of a UFO video it's therefore a hoax. That's what scientists call 'inductive reasoning' - the difference is, shows like Ancient Aliens are hypothesizing, and skeptics are the true flaky zealots, figuratively burning at the stake anyone who would dare broaden their narrow world view.
