That awkward moment when...

Yes, that awkward moment when you post something that you suspect someone might be offended by and comment on, but still didn't expect them to be as completely stupid as they turn out to be.

I am talking about facebook, not this blog.  To be fair to my wonderful friends on fb, I always expect that type of reaction, but 99% of the time it doesn't happen.

The graphic above is what I posted, with no commentary.  What I got from the offended party was a weird mix of "Jesus is awesome!" and "The bible is total bull crap."  You may ask yourself how both those things can be true, which I asked that person and this is the basic answer I got:

Long ago, there was a conspiracy to discredit Jesus, so they included him in the bible.  When people discover that the bible is full of lies, they will also throw Jesus in that pile and not believe in him, even though that part is totally true!

After a while this person started continually mentioning his You Tube page, at which time I realized he was just trolling for attention and that made it no longer enjoyable.  However, we did manage to rack up over 100 comments between him, myself and others.  I think that is a record for my fb page.  It was fun, but not something I want to do every day - so I will save those "controversial" shares for the weekends. :-D

Heavy sigh, eh? Religion is faith, faith of an untested and suggestible variety. Faith is required to hang "meaning" on when everything else supporting that "meaning" has fallen away to dust dry as chalk dust and blown away in an uncaring wind inspired by no God at all... only...

You're supposed to keep it too yourself, by Direction I understand...! You don't use it as an excuse to jam said faith where it is not wanted or appreciated or called for... especially when said faith is unenlightened, authoritarian, ignorant, intolerant, intellectually un-brave, non-progressive, bigoted, consumed by hatred, and certifiably psychopathic. Then your faith becomes a social crime. Opprobrium, invalidation, dislike and mistrust. You bring it on yourself. Not part of God's plan I'd wager.

That guy was a complete nut, but not in the normal Fundie way. He kept telling me that I couldn't know when Jesus lived and he had lived many thousands of years earlier than what I thought. I explained to him that bible gives us some pretty good clues of when Jesus lived, like Romans and Herod. That part was made up, according to him, to discredit Jesus. It was quite entertaining because I was in a good mood, would not have been the case if I were in a bad mood. :-D
