Now that McKinnon has been saved from spending the rest of his life at Guantanamo, he and his family are likely faced with overwhelming legal debt. He needs to raise money, and a lot of it.
From this point on, I don't buy any of McKinnon's claims because, no doubt, a book and maybe even a screenplay likely are in negotiation, and the wilder his ET claims the higher the price he'll be able to get because a book and/or film will come fully loaded with a free PR blitz and an audience of "true believers".
I don't begrudge him profiting from his ordeal, but his credibility (never all that high for me in the first place) is questionable.
