Memorial Service and Burial Information for Filip Coppens

Some blog visitors in S. Cal may wish to attend.  From Filip's wife Kathleen McGowan:

The memorial service for Filip Coppens will take place on Tuesday, January 8th, at 11:30 am. This will occur at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale, California. Please note that there are multiple memorial parks in Southern California owned by Forest Lawn, and ensure that you are going to Glendale, at the address provided below.

The service will be a closed casket. However, those who wish to see Filip for one last time may attend a viewing the night before in the Forest Lawn Memorial Center. This will take place between 4:00 pm and 9:00 pm and these are open hours for coming to the viewing any time within that frame.

This will be a celebration of Filip's life and legacy, followed by his burial in the Court of Freedom, adjacent to the labyrinth.

Thank you all for sharing your love with us over these difficult weeks.

This hit as hard as Mac Tonnies death. Prayers and love go out to his wife and family.

Another sad, but sweet thing: Filip wanted to be buried there because in the center of the labyrinth is where he asked Kathleen to marry him. He said when she visits him there he will meet her in the center.

I am an admirer of Filip's work, which covered many years, of his tragically, shortened life.
My sincere condolences, go out to his wife, Kathleen, his family, friends, and his colleagues, in science, who have broadened all of our horizons, over time, for what is, and, could possibly be, out there, for us to dream about, and discover !
Godspeed, Filip !
