I suspect the decline in interest is a result of the saturation of the internet with hoaxes, fiction writing, faked photos and videos, CGI, and gross misrepresentations of mundane objects, as well as the continued filling of our skies with frequently misidentified drones (I saw one yesterday the size of a small compact car and clearly a terrestrial aircraft). The capacity for belief and acceptance that there's a real UFO phenomenon is and will continue waning. We’re becoming more and more jaded from overexposure to UFO porn.
