Shorty Crater has always interested me. A lot of lunar craters appear to have "junk" in them. IMHO, the Shorty Crater hasselblads are desaturated in color to look closer to B&W. There are several patches of multicolored sand(?) at that sight, besides the orange, that are not clearly visable because of the poor color processing.
I know Hoagland is acting like he discovered this photo, but I was thinking that I had seen it on other websites for years. There does seem to be a lot of junk on Mars. I have seen other things that look like heads and well as things that look like some sort of electronics with wires hanging out of them.
