Some of you may remember me reporting a strange sound coming from the sky one night last year when we were out walking the dog, see here for full details of that. That time I didn't really think to try to take any photos since I could see nothing in the sky to take a photo of. About 2 days ago I heard the noise again. I went in and got my camera and when I came back the noise was gone. I took some photos and there was nothing unusual about them. Yesterday it happened again. The sound continued when I returned with my camera and although I couldn't see anything I aimed my camera up at the sky where the noise seemed to be coming from. The rainbow orb type photo is the first one I took. After checking it on the computer I went back out to see if the noise was still going on, it was, so a took another photo which I caught the boomerang rainbow shape in and one more photo that has some more plain looking orbs. I suppose there is scientific explanations for these photos, like lens flare or something, but I have taken dozens of photos of strange clouds and the sky and never before have I had anything like that turn up on the photos. The photos were taken on a Kodak easy share camera, set on auto, zoom was off. You can view more of the photos here.
Addendum: I discovered this in one of the photos after writing this post, there seems to be a dark orb.

Interesting pics Lesley!
Nice photos. The second photo appears to be lens flare, though. The "dark orb" is probably a tiny speck of dust on the camera's sensor. That should easily be provable by shooting several photos toward the Sun at different times. If the "orbs" are in the same place, it's dust. If not, then we might just have ourselves a mystery.
Thanks Anon! Good idea, I will give it a try tomorrow.
Would it be possible to record the sound on your camera? Love the rainbow thingy. Try a couple of other settings with the camera to get a slower speed. Good stuff even if that's all you get.
I have thought about trying to record the noise on one of my mp3 recorders. Last time it wasn't as loud as the first time I heard it, so I am not sure if someone who was listening to a recording could tell the difference or could hear it over the traffic on the highway or if they would kind of blend together. I will try to dig out my recorders and see what happens next time.
