98 pence a litre here in the UK at my local petrol station. On the main A5 route I got charged £1.05 a litre!! Many of my clients are now having to pay out nearly £90 to fill up their cars. We had blockades at petrol distribution centres a few years ago, which I fully supported even though I had to go without my car which I needed for work. Rather than listening to the disgruntled public and lowering the duty on fuel our goverment simply changed the law. Now it illegal to picket fuel depots under 'anti terrorist' laws! This wasn't terrorism, this was people reaching the end of their tether because they could no longer afford to travel to work!
It takes me $52 to fill up my Toyota Avalon. I am not sure what the exchange rate is right now, but I think that is about 80 pounds (I just realized there is no pound sign on my keyboard) in the UK. So we are getting pretty close.
