I'm Back!

New MacBook is still being repaired, but dug out the old one and it seems to be working fine.  Well, actually seems to be working much better than when I last used it, which is weird, but I am not complaining.  My iPad is fine for certain things, but day to day blog updating and certain other things it really sucks for.  It is an iPad 1, the newer ones may be better for that type of stuff.

Anyhow, while I was gone I found that I often missed updating this blog so I am happy to be back!

Welcome back -- greatly missed my daily feed of cool-weirdness (or is it weird-coolness?).

Glad you're back up to speed, but have you ever considered getting a backup PC using Linux?

Refurbished PCs can easily be had for less than $100 at Geeks.com

As for the operating system, I use Puppy Linux as my main OS and it's been great: Easy to learn, no maintenance, and reliable. The nice thing is that it runs off a CD (runs entirely in RAM, so no install to hard drive and thus no "system" to get corrupted or damaged). It comes with most major applications and you can also get addon PETs for added apps like Open Office, etc.

I've used Puppy for 99% of my computing needs for about 6 years now and safely report no technical issues, no viruses, a simple "boot and use" system. (I store all of my data on an external hard drive). When you run as a live CD, you don't have to install it, so therefore no system to screw up -- it's a fresh boot every single time.
