Update

Computer is still not working right, but well enough that I managed to update tonight.

I bought my MacBook at Best Buy and so I took it there yesterday because I have a service contract.  A total waste of an hour of my day!  They tried all the same things I had already tried and then told me I would need to bring it back when the "Mac Guy" is working because they couldn't figure it out.  I may drop by the Apple Store today and have them take a look at it and at least maybe give me a clue about what is wrong.
