Not Wrapping My Lil' Head Around This

I was a little shocked when I read this post -
The Interstellar Housewife: Wrapping My Lil' Head Around This

I read the comments at WOE, scratched my head and then returned and reread Deirdre's original post about 3 more times and I still couldn't grasp the grand outrage of it. I just can't wrap my lil' head around it either. You all know that I have often stuck up for the Disclosure and Exopolitics people when I felt they were being attacked for no real reason and just because someone found them an easy target. I just don't see that Deirdre is doing that. She says right in there that she doesn't believe that all aliens (if they are aliens) are good or bad. She even says that she is sure that not all exopol people believe everything their leaders say. As you well know, I don't believe in any organized groups -- they all suck! I don't even belong to MUFON. Of course, that is one of the many problems with organized groups, the people in charge ARE (in a sense) speaking for everyone. People like myself that do not want others speaking for them don't join organized groups. Whenever you have Presidents, directors and by-laws, someone is speaking for you whether you like it or not.

Back to Deirdre, if I stretch my imagination I can somewhat imagine how someone could be offended by what she wrote, especially if they felt Deirdre was speaking about their friends. I am protective of my friends too. I tried reversing the entire topic and still didn't find myself the least bit offended so it must be the friend thing. Possibly it is just that I am jaded, I see dozens of what I think are truly offensive attacks on Exopo, Greer, Salla, Bassett and Webre (and others that aren't even associated with Exopol) each day and Deirdre isn't even in that ballpark.

Of course, it is totally Anya's right to be offended and comment, just as it is Deirdre's right to post her point of view.

Whether politics are "exo" or a more prosaic formulation I think what the dialog is embedded within is a decidedly anthropomorphic debate, with critical assumptions, valuations and variations that are bred in the hothouse of no one really "knowing" anything substantiated regarding this phenomenon.

These debates are circular and usually but not always, couch some very interesting dialog, which tends to get lost in translating strong emotional and "loaded" language.

I look at all theoretical posturing including my own as semi-informed babble. Whose babble is better is strictly a matter of subjective taste. My own babble is unique, but repeats themes found in other babble. As long as babble is on topic, I cannot determine, a right or wrong approach because I know I do not know what I am talking about.
Best Wishes
Bruce

I too understand the friend-angle. I've stepped up to the plate more than a lot for that very reason, so I 'get' it.

I'm starting to think the exopol crowd is a very defensive bunch. Not that that is unusual mind you -- a lot of people can be defensive about their believes, whether it be political, religious, or otherwise -- but these guys just seem overly defensive. It's almost like they seek out criticisms to defend.

I used to think exopolitics was a branch of UFOlogy, but not so much anymore. I think exopolitics has become more of a new age belief system that merely incorporates UFOlogy and politics.

Bruce - I don't know what I am babbling about either! lol!

Jeff - I still don't even understand the difference between the Disclosure groups and exopol. Not that I really have cared enough to seek out the answer to that. :)
