Computer problems
Just letting everyone know that I am having weird problems with the LCD screen on my MacBook. It goes off often and I have to jiggle, open and close it until it comes back on. It is getting harder and harder to make it work, so I need to take it in for repair (and also upgrades), which means I may be without a computer for a couple days. I do have the iPad, but last time I looked there was no browser app (like "share this") that would make doing this blog possible without spending all day. I will check apps again because I haven't looked in a while, but if I don't update later this week - you know why.
BTW, now that Tim has finished all his hard work on the Exeter Conference he has posted my Grey Matters about the George Noory "Meet and Greet" at BoA.

Stuff
I did update yesterday, just not until noonish. I didn't get much sleep Sunday night so I was really tired and made the mistake of having a few glasses of wine. I was literally falling asleep sitting up and ended up going to sleep around midnight, which is almost unheard of for me.
A quick reminder that Ancient Aliens will be starting season 3 on Thursday! Giorgio Tsoukalos will also be the guest on c2c Sunday night w/ host George Knapp.
I do have a new Grey Matters posted at Binnall of America, so check that out and all the great columns, interviews and other stuff there!

Wormholes and Stuff
Hey all!
Meant to post last night, but I totally fell behind on everything and also wanted to watch a movie - Battle: Los Angeles.
If you haven't seen Battle: LA, my personal opinion is that it totally sucked. It didn't even rate a 1 on my 5 star scale. Hated it!
In other news: I was actually turned down by The Examiner to write a diet column. They said that I don't have enough experience with the topic. Well, duh! That was the whole point! It was a diet column about a complete diet dummy trying to figure out how to lose weight. Even being dumb about such things I have managed to lose 11 lbs over the past 5 weeks, so fuck them! I am sure if I wanted to write about UFOs they would have said yes, but I say about all I have to say about that in my BoA and UFO Mag columns. I wanted to write about something new. So if you were guessing that caused me to start yet another blog - you were right! It is called "The D-word." So far it is mostly a diet diary, but I will be adding fitness DVD reviews and other things soon.
Hoping to see Super 8 today!
And yes, this really had nothing to do with wormholes.

Tumblr
Recently I started a Tumblr account. Nancy Birnes had started one and I have to do everything Nancy does because she is so cool! I really like it. It is great for blogging stuff (text, photos and video) that goes on during the day that wouldn't really fit here and I can use it to update facebook and twitter too. So if you ever want to know how horrible the AZ fire smoke is here and stuff like that - I've got you covered over at tumblr. :-)
BTW, the smoke from the fire is pretty damn bad.

Favoritism
Yesterday I was accused of favoritism in regards to a post by Lon Strickler. First off, I hardly know Lon. I know him because of his blog, but it isn't like we regularly exchange emails. In fact, I don't think we have ever exchanged emails. I honestly happened to like his post.
That isn't to say that there isn't favoritism here, just not in that case. There is favoritism in the posting. You will notice that UFO links always go at the top, cryptozoology, esoteric and other types of links are below those. Sometimes I miss one of those and it ends up near the top or sometimes if I am using it as a photo post. That is because this was only going to be a UFO blog, but I do have some interest in those other topics so they also ended up being included.
Yeah, if I write at a blog (like UFO Mystic) or run a blog (like UFO Mag), probably those links will be nearer the top. For friends that mention me often at their blogs I like to return the favor by putting their post links nearer the top sometimes. After all, it is my blog.
However, most of the time when I am setting up posts (meaning not in a hurry and just quickly posting, which often happens) it is the posts with the catchy titles that go at the top. So someone coming to this page for the first time might see something that catches their eye right from the start.
So there are the secrets of my "favoritism."

Blogger is back...
As you may have heard blogger was down for over a day, which is why I didn't update last night. It still seems messed up. My Wednesday night posts are out of order and some are missing. Also, when I was updating tonight there was some strangeness, there are labels that aren't mine that appear in my label index. So it doesn't seem totally fixed and it may well crash again. Blogger is remaining rather silent about the cause, in the news articles I read they had no comment on the cause except that it has nothing to do with the new design they are supposedly rolling out soon. Whatever!

Yes, I am missing "key critical factors!" Thanks for noticing!
Ever get one of those comments that really is no big deal, but yet totally gets under your skin? Yep, I got one of those yesterday. Someone going by a screen name of The Emperor commented this about a sighting reported at UFO Casebook, which I had linked to:
I think I was being accused of not keepin’ it real by someone that blogs using a screen name!
You all know that I would like to send my crack team of investigators out to every sighting that is photographed, but sadly nobody has offered to fund that effort. Therefore, I have to actually depend on readers having brains and deciding for themselves. It had never occurred to me that you guys are just too dumb to do that, so I guess the Emperor must feel he knows something that I don’t.
Kidding aside, you guys know that there are a couple “news” sites that I don’t link to. The reason is not that I feel you are too dumb to know that what they post at those sites are mostly hyped up lies to improve their hit rate and ad revenues, but because I don’t feel they deserve any extra hits from my site. Simple as that, as hilarious as their stupid “news” sometimes is, they don’t deserve my linkage. On the other hand, Bat Boy and Weekly World News often get linked here under the “just for fun” tag because they are fun and not pretending to be serious news. Great article about Sharks being under alien mind control today!
Of course, I will continue to post links to videos, photos and sightings posted by people on the internet. No doubt some of those will be hoaxes, some will be common things like balloons and some will likely be unexplainable.
How many different video tape sources where there fore this happening?
On my blog, that is one of the key critical factors that I have to even put something up. You have to remember, your's might be niche, and it might still be a small audience, but its still an audience. You are essentially a reporter with no agency, but you still have a responsibility when it comes to what you put up.

Stuff
Yep, been playing with blogger templates again. :-D I was especially happy with the way LOE came out with the new White Sands background. Not sure about this one yet, so it may change again soon or maybe I will give it a while.
If you want to view something truly frightening, check out the Sarah Palin Battle Hymn. I almost hate to link to it, but it is so incredibly insane that I can't help myself.

Whoops!
Yesterday I received something from blogger that I have never received before, a DMCA notice. Yes, someone accusing me of infringement! I was totally shocked! As you all know, I work very hard to NOT infringe on anyone's writing or photos. I often use a photo to draw attention to a link, in this case, a UFO Digest Article.
I got so befuddled by it all that I somehow clicked a link that I thought was the complaint against me and it was filed by a software company. Later, when I was in my somewhat right mind I noticed the date on it was 2003 and realized it was some sort of sample page.
So I went back and checked Christian's article/video and soon found the video and photo came from The Sun, which tells you quite clearly that they are copyrighted by The Sun. I will have to be more careful in the future to check where things originate from. I have screen capped from The Sun in the past, the difference was that I linked to their article. In this case I was unaware that it existed because I didn't have time to watch the video which I thought was on the UFO Digest site, but actually it was on The Sun site.

Fall
Oh my gosh, I have been soooooooooooooooo tired. I guess it is just my normal Fall allergies that always make me tired, but it seems even worse this year. Then again, I probably think that every year. Seriously, I feel like I could sleep for about 80% of the time. Anyhow, don't expect much from me until this passes. I have a hard time staying awake enough to go through my feed reader and if something doesn't grab me right away as being possibly interesting to the readers of this blog -- I move on. It isn't really fair, but it is the best I can do right now. A shame that I have such a hard time staying awake during my favorite season of the year. :-)

Stuff
I do have another new blog, Menagerie of Mystery. It will be joining with the website as soon as I get around to redoing the website. It has nothing to do with UFOs, it is for vintage things, especially vintage jewelry and jewelry in general. Well, I suppose that could include UFO related stuff, but so far it doesn't.
I had some other stuff I was going to say, but I guess I will behave myself. Instead, do any of you have comments on people asking for your money? No, I don't mean someone selling you a book or offering to shoot lasers in the air to try to attract alien spacecrafts -- I mean people in Ufology asking you for money for their bills? Is there a difference or is it pretty much the same thing?

The 'C' Influence
News, or not really -- I joined a new blog, The 'C' Influence. I did explain that I probably won't post very often, but you know how I love starting and joining blogs. :-) Anyhow, thanks to Rick for inviting me!
