The title of the column was strange I thought after reading it, it really didn’t seem to “fit” a serious publication on UFO research, but sometimes the title is to get the attention of the reader and it certainly did its job there and at least one word did correlate with the cigarette hanging out of the side of Ms. O’ Lavery’s clown painted, rose red lips.Wow! I honestly don't get this dude's outrage, but at the same time I find it hilarious! Of course, maybe that is because I also smoke, drink wine, wear lipstick and have been known to use foul language quite often. Knowing a lot of people in UFOlogy - I don't think any of that is uncommon. OK, maybe the lipstick since UFOlogy is made up of mostly men.
At least he didn't mention the nose piercing, another thing Deirdre and I share, along with Regan.
Let me just say that UFO Mag has many columnists. A columnist is someone that shares their opinion (not necessarily research) and UFO Mag tries to cover opinions of all kinds. If you can't stand that someone has a different opinion than you do -- you shouldn't be reading UFO Mag or at least not the column that offends you.
It is well known and I probably don't need to mention it, but many of the greatest writers throughout history have used foul language.
Deirdre - you know I love you! We don't always agree, but the cigs, wine, red lips and foul language make you irresistible! xoxo!

I don't know... but I detected an undercurrent of something else apart from criticisms on writing style, clothing, make-up, language choice, and tobacco use... you know? Little foam flecks and mucous bubbles provoked by a strong female? A Sexual bigotry?
It remains, I liked it... and her.

I found it slightly disturbing that the feature of this last issue was the David Jacobs/Emma Woods scandal, but all he got out of it was an obsession with me.
*shrugs*
I guess it's easier than addressing the hard stories, eh?
Alfred, yes, you're right I think, I ranted at the Orange Orb but it's not up yet, among other things, he's a Christian fundie...which is clear, given his outmoded Twilight Zone 1700s reaction to sexuality and women; he used words like "heathen," and "slang," and oh, so much more. It's hilarious, if not disturbing, for his reaction.. as Deirdre says, he fixates on her one, -- her first column -- and not on, say, Emma Woods, or any of the other topics or columns? Just one more circus act in UFO land!
Dont'cha just love it when the critique says so much more about the critic than that which has been critiqued?
