Stuff
First, something I have been meaning to to do - a shout out to Shout Factory and big thanks to them for sending me the Dark Skies DVD set! So far, I haven't had time to watch them, but when I do I can't wait to see how many things about the series I forgot over all those years. :-)
My dear friend Priscilla Sister Wolf has a new website, check it out if you have time. I am sure there will be more to come in the future.
Lastly, this forum has a whole Giorgio Tsoukalos meme going on and it is hilarious! Don't worry about Giorgio being upset by it, he is how I found out about it. It is one of the very cool things about Giorgio, he can take a joke and doesn't get all bent out of shape like many (or most) people in UFOlogy. That is why he is mega awesome rather than just plain awesome! And yes, that is my own Giorgio meme graphic at the top of this post.

2010: A Big Year for UFOs
Once again, the 1957 Holloman photo is shown and reported as being from a 1964 incident. Impossible, as my post here shows.

The Odor of the Owl
The Orange Orb: The Odor of the Owl
This is creepy to me for so many reasons. You all know I hate clowns, but I don't really care for mascots in costumes of any kind.
Then there is the Victorian version of Man in Black clothing. Oh, they try to lighten it up a bit with the Burberry scarf, but it is still very MIBish.
And why of all things would they choose an owl to advertise perfume? We all know the owl is the most esoteric creature around, associated with alien abduction, bad omens, Bohemian Grove and so much more.
Googling the subject, the owl seems to be a very bad choice for a perfume mascot:
Owls generally have a limited sense of smell, but their existence depends upon their hearing
and their site. Their sense of smell can be illustrated by the fact that Great Horned Owls
(Bubo v.) enjoy wallowing in the perfume of skunks. Every GHO I have encountered smelled like skunk. They have been observed rubbing themselves in the skunks carcasses and their behavior has been described as appearing that the owl was enjoying the experience. Anthropomorphized? Possibly.
OK, possibly a good choice if the perfume you are selling smells like a skunk. :-D

Sort of on vacation
We have decided to stay home for Christmas this year. It was an easy decision because we were going to go to Durango. There is a huge storm hitting there and if I heard the weather channel right, there was 38 inches of snow in Silverton over the past 24 hours. Silverton is quite a bit higher than Durango, but that is still not a good sign, especially given my understanding that the worst part of the storm hasn't even hit yet.
That said, I still think I will take a short vacation from the bloggie here. Oh, if I come across something that seems interesting I will post it, but otherwise I will be on a blog vacation. Things will return to normal next Monday.

Just a little quote
Jonathan Carroll just posted this, a quote by another of my favorite authors and one of my favorite quotes from him:
We who make stories know that we tell lies for a living. But they're good lies that say true things, and we owe it to our readers to build them as best we can. Because somewhere out there is someone who needs that story. Someone who will grow up with a different landscape, who without that story will be a different person. And who with that story may have hope, or wisdom, or kindness, or comfort.

Stuff
There is apparently some feud going on in the Bigfoot world. I decided not to link to posts about that because UFOlogy feuds keep me busy enough and at least I understand slightly better what is going on with those. :-) Seriously though, I like both of these people and would rather keep out of it.
We are FINALLY going to have a UFO/paranormal conference here in Albuquerque. Not until the end of April, but I am pretty excited about it. Will let you know more as things develop. Right now the guest speakers and venue are still being lined up.
Not much else going on here, just suffering through the "holiday season," as best as I can. :-D

Juicy vintage gossip and normal boring stuff
Not much going on here. I do have a couple new posts over at Vintage Flying Saucers though. Tim Beckley told me some juicy vintage news yesterday.
Had my teeth cleaned yesterday. Although, getting that done isn't a lot of fun, I love the way it feels after they are clean! The hygienist asked me if I smoke and drink coffee, I told her if it is bad for you then I probably do it, within legal limits. She thought that was hilarious. Also, told her that I write about UFOs and she was cool about it, as most people are, she didn't seem to think it was weird or anything. She told me about her friends in Roswell who have a dog that won this years alien pet parade for best costume. So I liked her and I liked the dentist there that I saw a week or so ago. Finally I think that I have a permanent dentist office! Yes, I am very picky about my dentist and haven't found one that I really like since years ago when my regular dentist had a stroke and later died. RIP Dr. Romero!
Thinking ahead a few weeks - we may well take off for Christmas again this year. Probably to Durango. Anyhow, so I may be taking a bit of a vacation from this blog (and other things) during that time.
That is all I can think of to babble about right now.
