The Rite and Black Eyed People

I am not sure what the reason is, but for the past week or so I have been having strange dreams and I actually remembered them.  Most of the time I am lucky to remember 1 dream per week, but I have been remembering every day lately.  One that I had the night after watching "The Rite" was kind of frightening and had to do with black eyed people (rather than black eyed children).  Some of these dreams, like the one I had after watching "The Rite" I feel are warnings to me.  That dream was actually about someone I know and the following day I read the excerpt of Jon Ronson's upcoming book on Psychopaths and frankly the two fit together way too easily.  Never easy to admit that someone you are related to might be a psychopath (even if certain people in your family have told you that for years), but there is one person in my family that I will continue to keep a distance from.  Some of you that are closer to me will know who I am talking about, but it doesn't really matter.  He is just a person that fits into all to criteria mentioned in that article, which may or possibly may not describe a true psychopath.  Without a doubt it does describe someone that is troubled and could be dangerous.

I have made the mistakes of once too often not following my own or my wife's gut instincts. Denial is as strong as empathy in most families. The worst part of this sort of situation that is handed to us, is what to do about it. Most often, the choices have the possibility of making things worse, or doing nothing because there is no consensus. That is why I often say we are a haunted species, like Poe's metaphor of Usher, our little house in our skulls. Often times these types isolate themselves in very clever ways which makes it very difficult
to dialog with them as in studies of extreme ends of the spectrum, they look at others as furniture. My empathy is with you. I have experienced this more than you think. If you ever need someone to talk to, contact me off line.
