Clearing something up and some self promo

I couldn't decide if I should bother to comment on this, but it will just continue to bug me if I don't. I came across this comment from David Biedny at the paracast forum regarding my post on plagiarism and de Lafayette:

and that linked "Debris Field" column is laughable, demonstrating a bizarre level of naivete regarding copyright and author's rights on the part of that blogger.

Not sure if it sounded that way to others or just David, but there is a reason it is written that way. While David may feel perfectly OK just calling someone a thief, I do not. Yes, I know it is illegal and knew it then - I also figured that you knew it and therefore it did not need to be said and was rather posed as a question. Although I think it is highly unlikely, it is possible that de Lafayette had permission from the original authors to post their articles in his book, in which case it wouldn't be illegal. Having twice been sued in cases that were based on lies and had no merit, I know that anyone can try to sue you over anything. Both of those cases were so ridiculous that they never even made it to court, but that didn't keep us from having to pay thousands of dollars in legal fees to prove they were without merit. So yes, even though those cases had nothing to do with anything I said, I am very careful about what say. I am also sure that any legal professional would probably tell David that he should be as well.

Onto other things -

I received my copy of UFO Mag in the mail today! I haven't had any time to read anything in it yet and I was shocked at the large photo of me staring at goats with Jon Ronson, his photo is much smaller, of course. :) I don't think I publicly thanked Jon for that interview, but thanks Jon, you are awesome! I'll probably be bugging you for another interview when your next book comes out.

I have a new Grey Matters posted at Binnall of America. I didn't find Bigfoot during my trip to Taos or even any stories about him, but I did think about him and so this week is thoughts on Bigfoot.

Not everyone is a master of copyright law and author's rights, but it doesn't disallow you from posing your personal feelings and opinions. I have no issue with him pouncing on actual charlatans, but to start picking on the people who are just trying to sort it all out, much like himself, is really unfortunate.

He isn't a scholar of physics, yet it still doesn't stop him from interjecting his own understanding of it into topic, for right or wrong.

I'm sorry this happened, but ya know what? You and I probably have significantly different beliefs and paths, but I still wholly respect you and your search for whats out there.

Forget about him.

David Biedny is only demonstrating that he can act out on a bizarre level of self-loathing the inordinately stout often have for themselves. Put him out of your mind before we have to give him the same kind of attention he would _pretend_ to give you, eh?

Congrats, but where is the photo? A scanned copy will do. Of course, if it's legal to post it ;-)

Actually I do plan on scanning it, just haven't go around to it yet.

I always say, as long as someone has good intent; in other words, is being honest, and as ISH said, just trying to "sort it all out," well, that's all we can ask for. We don't have to agree with each other, and of course, we don't at times.

I enjoyed your interview with Jon Ronson Lesley; lots of good questions.

Much as I enjoy The Paracas from time to timet, Biedny's endless pontificating has led me to avoid the show. The only exception I make is if there's a guest I really want to hear. Otherwise, Biedny's self-proclaimed expertise (and motor mouth) are too annoying to tolerate.

He's a paranormal Rush Limbaugh. His view is the ONLY view. He's just a hot air-fueled ass most of the time.

Wow -- I would never have gone _there_... I bow deeply, ma'am, in the Elizabethan sense. rofl!

I'm with purrlgurrl - pontificating, yes, exactly.

He's two-faced too. He kisses ass depending on the guest and then rags on others.

That's really too bad too because he has a great voice for radio and could make something special out of it.
